Pet Medical’s mission is to provide outstanding care for pets and their families, always.
Our team of experienced veterinarians and qualified nursing staff understand every pet is a friend and companion to the client and we care about your pets as much as you do. Our Low Stress Handling and Gold Level Cat Friendly Accreditation ensures our team can provide a stress free environment for both you and your pet.

Our Hunter Valley Clinics

Pet Medical has 3 clinics located in Muswellbrook, Scone and Denman, in the Upper Hunter NSW. Our main Pet Medical clinic is located at Muswellbrook. This clinic is fully equipped with the latest digital diagnostic equipment and surgical facilities as well as providing 24/7 after-hours emergency care. We are open 7 days a week, Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, and Saturday and Sunday 9.00am to 5pm.

The Pet Medical Team

Pet Medical is the culmination of almost 25 years of experience in veterinary services. Every member of our Pet Medical team are passionate about animals and dedicated in providing veterinary excellence, every time, for our clients and patients.

Dr Peta Gay Railton

BVM&S, MRCVS, Director

Peta Gay Railton graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh in 1993. Following a year of mixed practice in the UK, Peta Gay returned to her native country of Jamaica to practice as a small animal veterinarian for the charity JSPCA. Since immigrating to Australia in 1998, Peta Gay has worked in rural practice in Victoria and NSW with a keen interest and further studies in surgery.

Peta Gay has been passionate about animals from a young age, and cherishes the trust that comes with taking the time and effort to make friends with her patients. Her aim is to ensure all her patients and their owners enjoy coming to the vets.

Dr Chelsea Whytcross

BVSc

Chelsea graduated from James Cook University in 2012. She enjoys all aspects of small animal veterinary medicine and is passionate about providing a high level of service to our clients. Chelsea is also part of our Management Team. Chelsea is pictured with Rosie.

Dr Rachel Nugent

MRCVS BVSc

Rachel graduated from Bristol University in 1999. She is an avid cat lover, having completed her post graduate foundation course in feline medicine in 2014. Rachel has also completed continuing education courses in emergency care, animal behaviour and cardiology.

Dr April Brenan

BVSc (Hons)

April graduated from the University of Queensland in 2008. She has developed a strong interest in internal and emergency medicine, and is passionate about providing a low stress environment for her clients. April has completed courses in toxicology and poisons, ultrasonography, cardiology and medicine. April is pictured with Bella.

Dr Dani Muscat

BVSc

Dani graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Edinburgh in 2010. Her professional areas of interest include emergency and critical care, surgery and behaviour. Meet Dani and her two pointers Salty and Pretzel.

Dr Jemima Jones

Jemima grew up on a beef and vineyard property in North East Victoria and graduated from Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, in 2017. Following her graduation, Jemima worked at a mixed rural practice in Wagga Wagga, before travelling to Berkshire in the UK, where she worked in a small animal clinic for a year. Jemima joined Pet Medical in August of 2019 and enjoys all aspects of veterinary work, but especially small animal medicine.

In her spare time she enjoys travelling, horse riding, snow skiing and playing tennis. Jemima loves spending time in the company of her much-loved, rather spoilt but extremely cute little dogs Banjo and Poppy.
